COMPETITION REPORT
We seem to have waited months for the Spanish summer to appear and this week it finally hit us with a vengeance.
The "europa network" 3.2.1 Open got underway on Monday with 16 teams trying to keep cool in the blazing sunshine. Each team of three players had, first of all to play against three players of their opposing side, then two against two and finishing off with the two skips against each other. With two games each on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and one on Thursday with each discipline accruing points to determine the finalists there were a number of very tired bodies and pink noses by Thursday’s final!
The two finalists’ took to the green with high hopes of lifting the magnificent cup that was on offer to the winning team. The finalists being “The Scotch Eggs” (Gail Chick, Alison Brown and Harry Chick) playing against “The High Jackers” (Olive Lutz, Dave Wood and Derick Lutz). In the event the “High Jackers” were hijacked by the “Scotch Eggs” who won each of the three disciplines to become the worthy winners of the "europa network" 3 2 1 Cup. In 3rd place was “Match & More” (Carol Davey, Clive Pearl and Ken Davey and 4th place was taken by “Mets” (Tony Metcalfe, Pat Metcalfe and Barry Elms). Our thanks to "europa networks" area Manager Gemma Broad for taking the time to come along and present the Trophy-medals & winners prize money.
